Rainy Day Fun Part Deuce

Here is a super easy preschooler activity...

Pop a plate in the microwave for about a minute...Let your little one color away!

A white plate would really let the color show but I only had yellow

Love putting a smile on his face!!

Rainy Day Fun!

It's Friday.  Tyler is at school.  We have rain in the forecast.  So much for Mason and I taking our walk and feeding the ducks.  What am I going to do with a 3 year old ALL DAY LONG???

Seriously...3 year olds scare me {LOL}

I've always wanted to make a "sensory box".  Basically it's a box filled with rice, beans, sand, gravel, dirt (or anything really) then you add funnels, shovels, spoons, etc.  Anything a preschooler can use safely will fly.

Here's what I had laying around the house.  I check my recycle bin and found empty yogurt cups I cleaned up.

I found a really cool thread for dying rice on www.momtastic.com.  It worked really well.  All you need is food coloring and vinegar.  Very easy and super fun!

Here's our "Sensory Box"!

Mason loved it!

I was surprised Tyler was interested in it as well...great rainy day activity!

"This Whole Thing Started With A Dream And A Mouse" ~ Walt Disney

We had a Disney adventure this weekend!  What an exciting trip.  I think Ty and I enjoyed it as much as the boys.  The weather was beautiful...80 degrees in January!  Here are some pictures...enjoy!

The Haunted Mansion

Disney humor {LOL}

Harper's Mill Disney 2012

The Pixar area at Hollywood Studios was super fun.  The Toy Story ride is one of our favorites!

The famous castle

Mason was not letting anyone near his ice cream...not even Daddy.

Crazy Kid

Mason and I read a book about possums.  While he was coloring his possum picture I asked him,  "What do possum mothers feed their babies?".  He quickly responded, "Boobs".  Can you tell we have been around babies lately?  Too funny...

Got Kilt???

We made our first trip to the Scottish Highland Games.  It was a wonderful chilly "Scottish" day and bagpipes filled the air.  Men in kilts lifting heaving things made my day.  What an awesome time had by all.

The boys were able to do a Caber and Sheaf toss.

These two lads were enjoying themselves

My favorite event was the Border Collies Demo.  Quoting the funny guy in front of me, "I can't even remember my Facebook login and this dog can get those sheep to anything."  I think he was frequenting the Scottish beer tent but entertaining none the less...

"SHEEP!!!!" ~ Steve Carell in Evan Almighty

"Twelve highlanders and a bagpipe make a rebellion" ~ Scottish Proverb

This dude was "tossing" a 56 lb weight over a crossbar in the Weight for Height competition.  Incredible.  Compression shirt + kilt = AWESOME

The Clan Societies Opening Ceremonies were pretty cool.

{LOL}

I quoted Highlander and Braveheart all day

Taking a stroll...

Just discovered this peaceful place near our house.  The boys fed swans and ducks and only one bird tried to attack us.  I call that a successful outing!  I have to admit I am enjoying 70 degree weather in January.  I miss snow, don't get me wrong, but this is "Easy Livin'"!

This guy wanted no part of us

Make that 2 birds that tried to attack us.

Cystic Fibrosis Sucks

Sorry for the crude title, but no other words come to mind.  My beauitful niece was born November 23rd.  At her 2 week check up, our family learned she has Cystic Fibrosis.  Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the United States (70,000 worldwide).  As you can imagine, this was a complete shock.  She did not show any symptoms prior to the test results being revealed.  I took a month off from blogging while we learned more about this diagnosis.  My sister has been amazing in researching and discovering tons of information on CF.  Check out this website www.cfvoice.com to learn about CF.
