Party Planning

Baby Grayson...

My step mom just threw a shower for her first grandbaby.  The shower was AMAZING!  Here are some ideas for a baby boy shower...

Use wooden toys and blocks throughout the decor.  The best part is mama gets to keep the decorations for baby!

This was an afternoon party. Everyone loved the platter style "finger food". Menu included popcorn chicken, veggie tray, "cowboy" cavier, mini quiche, stuffed cheese balls, 7 layer dip and a delicious meat and cheese tray...

A baby "clothesline" is a must!  Such a fun way to display those cute baby outfits...

Chocolate tray...'nuff said :)

Now that's a diaper cake

My beautiful sister and mama-to-be, Stephanie.  Can't wait for baby Grayson to arrive!!!

And Baby Makes Four...

About a month ago I planned a "get this baby out of my belly" party for my older sister.  It was my first shower.  Thank goodness I didn't screw anything up and it was a success!  We had about 25 ladies {and a couple totally adorable babies}party with us.  Check out the bottom of the post for helpful hints on planning a baby shower!

I chose a Pink and Brown theme with highlights of a modern blue

I added roses to the vases to finish the table

I used my kitchen island as a buffet

My friend Maria loaned these beautiful beverage caddies

Alysia's amazing friend Melanie sent this incredible centerpiece

I used the kids air hockey table for a gift station. First time I made pom poms, so easy and fun!

The cake was a huge hit...thanks Karen @ Cupcake Crazy

Here's the "mama to be" and another one of my crazy sisters!

I started my planning with finding a cake. Unfortunately, cake decorating is not on my resume so once I came up with a design I went cake testing :) It was a really tough day of trying different cake flavors and frosting, but I muscled through.

Next, I chose colors and off I went.  I'm a super frugal shopper so I found table clothes for $6.99 at Bed, Bath and Beyond, made my own runners and the vases were $1 at Michael's.  I used platters I already owned and shopped the food at BJ's using a free 60 day membership.

Let me know what you guys think!
